One of our most cherished events is the Teeyan Festival, which celebrates the strength and resilience of women while honouring the rich traditions of Punjabi culture. In 2024, our efforts and passion gained national recognition when we were featured on BBC Radio Berkshire with Rena Annobil. During the segment, we shared the fascinating history of Teeyan and its significance in promoting gender equality and women's empowerment across generations.

ITV Meridian

We were honoured to be featured on ITV Meridian by Megan Samrai during South Asian Heritage Month, highlighting the rich cultural communities of Kent. Our committee shared insights on the importance of the Kent Saheli Group in promoting not just social connections but also mental wellbeing, literary initiatives and cultural preservation.

South Asian Heritage Month

South Asian Heritage Month

In 2024, our Gravesend Teeyan event was a highlight of South Asian Heritage Month, showcasing the rich cultural traditions of Punjab. The event featured Giddha, Bolliyan, and Bhangra performances, all performed by talented community members. We were honored to host talks by university researchers, whose important work we have been proudly supporting.
